The Flagstaff Police Department recovered a large, stolen bronze sculpture on Wednesday morning after an employee from Flagstaff Auto and Metal Recyclers called to say they had recently purchased the $12,000 piece as scrap metal.

On New Year's Eve, a man reported the Frederick Remington replica statue had been stolen from the yard of his second home in the Country Club neighborhood off East Broken Rock Loop Road sometime in the previous week.

The piece, which is 4 to 5 feet tall and weighs several hundred pounds, depicts a Native American man precariously perched on a horse with a gun tucked in his waistband.
