Pincher Creek couple robbed of antiques, memories | Alberta | News | Calgary Sun
http://www.calgarysun.com/2012/01/29/pincher-creek-couple-robbed-of-antiques-memoriesA life’s collection of antiques and memories have been stolen from seniors in Pincher Creek.
Boxes of items from The First and Second World Wars, native artifacts and family photos were taken from a shed in the backyard of a Pincher Creek residence, say RCMP in the town, about 215 km south of Calgary.
It’s believed the theft occurred between Jan. 11 and Jan. 20, while the homeowners left their residence in the care of property managers.
Police say the items have great sentimental value to the couple.
Among the stolen items are two native peace pipes, leather leggings from the First World War, an antique round oak table with three sleeves and five oak chairs.
Also in the haul, an antique cylinder record player with 150 cylinder records, a kerosene chandelier hanging lamp, a German helmet from the Second World War, a German officer’s shirt crest with the swastika removed and many native artifacts.
The loot also includes a brass seven-day clock, hand-carved dice in a bone case, a First World War officer’s compass, an antique silver tea set, and a signed copy of a Frederick Remington painting, Arizona Cowboy.
Police are asking antique dealers, pawn shop owners and classified shoppers watch out for these items.
